Book: Improving Logistics for Perishable Agricultural Products in the People’s Republic Of China

In the PRC, some 30% of perishable agricultural products are lost before reaching consumers. Improving Logistics for Perishable Agricultural Products in the People’s Republic of China reports on the logistics of efficiently moving produce to the tables of more than 1 billion consumers. Aimed at agricultural policy makers in the PRC, the report also offers lessons and guidance for other developing economies in the Asia–Pacific region.

6th People’s Republic of China-ADB Knowledge-Sharing Platform: Workshop on Deepening Public-Private Partnerships in Asia and the Pacific

The Knowledge-Sharing Platform workshop was attended by more than 100 participants from 18 countries. Sponsored by the PRC Ministry of Finance and ADB, and co-organized by the Public–Private Partnership (PPP) Research Committee led by the Research Institute for Fiscal Science, the workshop focused on new developments in PPPs, both regionally and abroad, while also discussing the enabling factors for a successful PPP in the context of ideal PPP models, and good practice in terms of PPP fiscal management.

Sustainable Vocational Training Toward Industrial Upgrading and Economic Transformation

Workshops held in Beijing and Guangzhou in December 2013, supported and organized by the Regional Knowledge Sharing Initiative (RKSI), discussed best practice and models for vocational training, as well as the various supporting roles that government, the private sector, and vocational schools can play. The workshop agenda also included discussions of vocational-training financing and policy.

Book: Economics of Climate Change in East Asia

A regional study, Economics of Climate Change in East Asia examines strategies that the PRC, Japan, the Republic of Korea, and Mongolia can adopt that combine adapting to climate change and reducing greenhouse gas emissions in the years ahead of 2050. It also considers the medium-term climate change adaptation costs involved for sectors such as agriculture, coastal protection, and infrastructure, while also taking into account the long-term potential effectiveness of climate change adaptation and mitigation policies.
