Lecture Series in Tsinghua University on Environment and Development

Description

In May 2017, the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and Tsinghua University launched a lecture series on development and environment. Following the launching ceremony, ADB East Asia Department Director General Ayumi Konishi delivered a lecture on "Climate Change: People's Republic of China (PRC)'s responses and ADB's support". He discussed global climate change challenges, PRC's essential roles in implementing the Paris Agreement, and ADB's support for the region and the PRC in particular. DG Konishi stressed the importance of knowledge partnership with Tsinghua University in supporting PRC's ecological civilization agenda.

Guest lecturers for this series come from the senior management team of the East Asia Regional Department of ADB.

  • The PRC’s extraordinary progress over the past thirty years and ADB’s evolving partnership with the PRC offers important experiences and lessons. Based on development projects, the lecture series will emphasize challenges, approaches, and solutions for environmentally sustainable growth.  

   

  • At the end of the course, students are expected to have gained familiarity with:
    • institutional arrangements underpinning international development and cooperation;
    • approaches and processes with which development assistance is delivered by multi-lateral development banks
    • current thinking and best practices in key sectors that ADB is engaged in, especially cooperation priorities with the PRC government
