About the Program

Jointly established by the Government of the People’s Republic of China (PRC) and the Asian Development Bank (ADB) on 30 August 2012, the ADB–PRC Regional Knowledge Sharing Initiative (RKSI) is an ongoing program to facilitate the exchange of development-related knowledge among ADB’s developing member countries (DMCs). It draws primarily on the PRC’s experience in promoting and supporting rapid economic growth and social transformation over the past 30 years.

RKSI enables the sharing of good practices and lessons learned from development programs and projects, helping improve the efficiency and effectiveness of government and international assistance. RKSI also promotes networking among knowledge institutions in Asia and the Pacific, an important step in enhancing regional cooperation and integration.

Priority themes supported by RKSI are aligned with the priorities of ADB’s strategic focus. They are also in line with government priorities indicated in the country partnership strategy, and feature among the priorities of the PRC’s Thirteenth Five Year Plan.

The mandate of RKSI includes promoting knowledge sharing and networking among knowledge institutions in Asia through organizing and co-sponsoring knowledge-sharing events, and enhancing further knowledge-sharing through publications and multimedia dissemination.
