About the Program

Jointly established by the Government of the People’s Republic of China (PRC) and Asian Development Bank (ADB) on 30 August 2012, the ADB–PRC Regional Knowledge Sharing Initiative (RKSI) is an ongoing program to facilitate the exchange of development-related knowledge among ADB’s developing member countries (DMCs). It draws primarily on the PRC’s experience in promoting and facilitating rapid economic growth and social transformation over the past 30 years.

The RKSI enables the sharing of good practices and lessons learned from development programs and projects, helping to better ensure improvements in the efficiency and effectiveness of government and international assistance. RKSI also promotes networking among knowledge institutions in the Asia and Pacific region, an important step in enhancing regional cooperation and integration.

Priority themes supported by the RKSI are aligned with the priorities of ADB’s strategic focus, which was reiterated by ADB midterm review of Strategy 2020. They are also in line with government priorities as indicated in the country partnership strategy, and feature among the priorities of the PRC’s 13th Five Year Plan.

The mandate of the RKSI includes promoting knowledge sharing and networking among knowledge institutions in Asia through organizing and co-sponsoring knowledge-sharing events, and providing knowledge-sharing services through the publication of the results with links to other media.
